Bookings are now open for Sailing Skills Camps 2020
Hello everyone,
Thank you for your patience and your eagerness to get your children back on the water. Due to the current situation there will be limited access to sailing camps this summer.
This year we are offering sailing skills camps. The following is a guideline issued by Irish Sailing which we are adopting.
The certificates will not be a priority this year and we would focus more on the safe and enjoyable return to the sport of sailing to be this year’s focus. Sailors should take this year as an opportunity to use their Irish Sailing Passport online logbook to track their skills progression, log their adventures and record any results they have from local races within their club.
We are now open to take bookings for Sailing Skills Camps for Improvers level and up ONLY. Your child must have passed at least Basic Skills level last year. Please read the prerequisites click here. We are offering weekly half day sailing skills camps starting on the 29th June; either 9am-12pm or 2pm-5pm, not both. It is €60 for the weekly half day sailing skills camps, €25 to rent a dinghy and don’t forget your membership, for insurance purposes.
We ask that children come in their wetsuits ready to rig the dinghy and get out on the water as quickly as possible. The quicker you are the more fun time on the water. Parents need to be ready to collect children at the finish time, in their wetsuits, as the clubhouse will not be open and the club cannot accept responsibility for children in the area after their camp is finished.
There are a limited number of club dinghies available for rent. If using your own dinghy please make sure that it is seaworthy. Each person will need to be able to rig their own dinghy. Because of social distancing guidelines instructors will not be able to assist. There will be no sharing of dinghies unless children are siblings.
The courses open at the moment are Sailing Skills Camps starting 29th June and 6th July. We hope to be able to offer more camps soon and we also hope to offer camps for the lower levels later in the summer so please keep an eye on the website which we will be updating regularly. Please read the protocols click here for further information and guidance. The club reserves the right to cancel sailing camps at short notice due to bad weather, insufficient numbers or a suspected case of Covid 19. You will be notified by text message by 9pm the previous evening if the camp is cancelled.
Happy and safe sailing.
Best wishes,
Aisling Ryan
